My Moda salesman was here on Friday, tempting me with samples of all the fabric lines that were introduced a few days before at Quilt Market in Houston. I'm attempting to maintain a style of fresh, modern, designer fabrics to use in my quilts and sell in my etsy shop, so it was easy to say no to the traditional prints, reproductions, and soft, florals. Then came the hard part. There are SO many really great modern fabrics by really good designers.
Then, Michael Miller Fabrics called me yesterday afternoon to show me (via the web) all of their new fabrics from Market. Then I thought about all the Kona Cotton colors I need to reorder as my stock is getting low, and the colors I would like to add to my stock.
Not to mention Kaffe Fasset and Amy Butler...
Overwhelming? It wouldn't be if I could just buy it all, because it's all so pretty!
Being on a budget, like most people, I need to be selective and limit what I buy. (Until I win the lottery, lol.) It's still risky, though. What if I buy fabric and no one else likes it? Oh! The pressure! Haha.
Yes, I ordered some Moda lines. Won't see those for months, though. Needing something fresh for the shop now, and I've narrowed my options to two:
1. Restock the Kona Cottons that have been selling well and add 10 more colors. (Very tempting.)
or
2. Go out on a limb and order these Michael Miller fabrics, which I adore:
Which fabric would you most desire?

I'd go with option 1.
I like solids quite a lot, but my favourite fabrics are mottled or batik without a definable pattern or with just swirls or dots or something because they're more interesting than solids but are still appropriate almost anywhere and, especially, in any size of project. I don't use prints, especially larger prints, very often because most of my projects are small.

Question 1: I know I'm different than most but I'd go for the restock of Kona Cottons.
Question 2: I use Moda fabrics the most. I'm a Sandy Gervias FAN FAN FAN !!!!!! I have yet to find a line from her collections that I don't want to add to my stash. This Fall's Gobble Gobble is FANTASTIC!! And I just ordered her Pieces From My Heart pattern called "Spoolin Around" which pictures using an Objects of Desire Jelly Roll!!!
Question/Option 3: On my blog, http://sewcindy.blogspot.com/ , there will be link back to your blog.
Thank you for hosting such a thoughtful giveaway.
Sewing hugs and blessings...always.

Abrazos!!!

Great fabrics. I have always loved Michael Miller so that is my choice.
My favorite fabrics are Moda....all Moda. I seem to have the fat Quarter Shop on speed dial to seep up with my addiction :)
I am adding a link on my blog which is http://chris-acrossthemiles.blogspot.com/
Thanks
Chris

1. I'd say the Kona, the most of the prints are too juvenile for me.
2. I buy mostly Michael Miller (tone on tones, blender type colors) and Moda.
3. I've added a link on my blog.
Have fun making the decision.

I wish you'd get the prints instead of more Kona, if you have to pick one or the other. About half the fabric I use is assorted Moda fabrics, but the rest is non-brand name prints from my local Hobby Lobby.

1. If you know your solids sell re stock some but not new, get the new MM prints instead of new Kona.
2. I love the Line katie jump rope and the new fabrics from Riley Blake and Sherry Berry. Also Japanese, but really who can afford to put many of those in their shop. I know I can't!!!
Thanks for the chance!

1- Michael Miller prints!
5- I've picked up fabric at random but do seem to be attracted to Michael miller, moda and deb strain

I like the Michael Miller but see myself only using a couple of those; if your Kona Cottons are selling well stick with them.
I buy a lot of Moda but find myself drawn more & more to Marcus Brothers.

I would love to win the Moda jelly roll, and I think you should go out on a limb to get the Michael Miller fabrics. They are really fun! My most oft used type of fabric is tone on tone...no specific maker or color, but I love how they blend enough to work with just about anything, but still have a little something that makes you look twice.

1- I would have to go with the Michael Miller fabrics.
5 - I really love the Amy Butler fabrics, but tend to use the Moda more because of their great coordinates.

Hi, Those Michael Millar fabrics are amazing and quite different to anything that I have ever used (so far) so I would order them. I tend to use predominately Moda fabrics and love both florals and more recently, reproduction fabrics. Thanks for the chance to enter your lovely giveaway. Jill

1- I too would go with the Moda
5 - I like Moda as well as Michael Miller

I do love the Michael Miller fabrics. I think they would be a good addition to your shop.
I do like a lot of Moda fabrics. They have many talented designers. Something for everyone IMHO.
I don't have a blog so I guess I only get 6!
Thanks

I would stick with what is selling good. I like the other prints but people always need kona solids.
Posted by: Holly | 10/25/2009 at 12:06 AM
My vote is Michael Miller prints. One can never have enough of either solids or prints, but what fun fabrics those Miller flavors are.
